When IPL was first introduced more than 25 years ago, treatments were performed without contact cooling. While effective, treatments could be uncomfortable and increase the risk of superficial burns.

The industry responded with contact cooling—a meaningful advancement that improved patient comfort and quickly became the standard.

As we spent years developing IPL technology and working alongside physicians, we began to recognize something important: The cooling designed to protect the surface could also influence the energy reaching the treatment target.

That realization led us to ask a different question. What if the most effective way to heat the target wasn't to add more but to remove what stood in its way?
